Asmara Eritrea - May 22nd 2006
I visited the Medeber Markets, where I met a lot of familiar faces and did some shopping. The girls were exited to see last years pictures.
In the early evening there is a parade of decorated trucks of various large firms in Asmara, like Eritrean Airlines, the Asmara Brewery, Segen Construction Company, Liquor and water factories, Muslim and Orthodox organisations and many more. Rolling drama is illustrating Eritrea's history, showing Haile Selassie, Haile Mariam Mengistu and Meles Zenawi.
Nicest memory: the reporter of ERI-TV, asking me some questions about the celebrations. My answers were broadcasted by ERI-TV a few days later, and satellite TV technique brought them even in Holland!
