May 2005 - Celebrating the
14th anniversary of Eritrea

Amsterdam - Asmara Eritrea - May 19th 2005

This is the story of my May/June 2005 visit to Eritrea. Ethiopians waiting for Eritrea to suffocate economically and socially are advised not to read it. It may contain shocking examples of modernization, beauty, friendliness and happiness. I did not take the trouble to picture or describe the deep scars the Ethiopians have left in their recent "excursions" on Eritrean territory, and economic problems caused by the subtle mechanisms to to hinder the peace process, by in principle accepting the EEBC decisions but at the same time expressing the need to negotiate its implementation, to buy time and keep up a war of attrition.

Eritreans on the other hand, I would like to ask, to look at the pictures and see that Eritrea is working hard, for a better future. The circumstances to attain the development standard that we aspire for are difficult, but with a little help of all of you, we will win our war against injustice and poverty. Many thousands gave their blood, sons and daughters for free Eritrea. Eritreans living in the Diaspora and friends of Eritrea have a great role to play here, both in exposing the Woyane tricks to the world, and showing their patriotism and love for the Eritrean people, by supporting the Eritrean development process, to accomplish our noble goals: a free and prosperous Eritrea.

So my story is biased and subjective, showing the best of Eritrea, as I would like to remember it and show it to the rest of the world. Woyane, if you don't like it, don't read it.
